Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its partnership with China, with a particular focus on enhancing bilateral trade and cultural exchanges.
This pledge was made by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, during the Henan (China) Spring Festival Overseas Gala Africa Tour, held at the Convention Edge Centre on Wednesday evening.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, provided a vibrant platform for attendees to experience Chinese culture through performances including kung fu, acrobatics, and culinary showcases.
In her speech, Miano emphasized the Kenyan government’s dedication to strengthening the longstanding ties between the two nations, highlighting the significant history of cooperation and mutual support.
“We remain committed to enhancing the relationship between our two countries through various initiatives, particularly in trade and cultural exchanges,” Miano stated.
She also stressed the importance of promoting Chinese culture within Kenya, encouraging the Chinese community to explore Kenya’s natural wonders, such as its national parks, museums, and tourist attractions.
“As we gather tonight, let’s celebrate the deep bonds of friendship and unity that connect us. Let us also embrace the core values of kindness, respect, and understanding that define our traditions,” Miano added.
Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, congratulated the Kenyan government for its continued partnership and underscored the vital role of China-Kenya relations.
She reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening the ties between Nairobi and Beijing.
“As the newly appointed ambassador, I look forward to working with my team and Kenyan partners to contribute even more to our enduring friendship and cooperation in various areas,” Ambassador Haiyan said.
She also noted that the New Year and Spring Festival present an opportunity to bring new energy to global growth and prosperity.
“The spirit of the new year and the Spring Festival inspires us to address global challenges and reflects our shared desire for peace and harmony,” Haiyan concluded.
