Veteran radio and TV presenter Eric Latiff has announced his departure from Spice FM, a station under the Standard Media Group, concluding his impactful four-and-a-half-year journey with the broadcaster.
In an emotional statement shared on Monday, January 6, Latiff expressed his gratitude to his colleagues at Spice FM and throughout the Standard Media Group, reflecting on his time at Kenya’s oldest private media house.
“On this 6th day of January 2025, my heart is heavy as I bid farewell to the brilliant team at Spice FM and the Standard Group. I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to be part of Kenya’s pioneering private media house once more. I’m proud of the incredible teams I leave behind across radio, TV, and print,” Latiff shared.
He fondly recalled his journey, which began in August 2019 with the launch of Spice FM. Latiff reflected on the early days in the studio, alongside colleagues CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, and the challenge of building a morning talk show that would truly resonate with listeners.
“At exactly 6 AM on August 20, 2019, four of us entered a brand-new studio to embark on a path we had never traveled before,” he recalled. “Together with CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, we embraced the challenge, believing in our ability to succeed.”
Latiff also praised the behind-the-scenes team, including producer Brian Evusa, programme controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni, for their crucial roles in growing The Situation Room into a flagship program.
He further expressed his appreciation for the audience, saying, “The most important part of the show has always been the audience who tune in via radio, TV, or digital platforms. It’s humbling to receive feedback, whether through calls, texts, or in person, as they share their compliments, comments, and suggestions.”
In addition to his work on The Situation Room, Latiff was a prominent figure on KTN News, anchoring various news bulletins.
Although Latiff has not revealed his next professional step, he assured his followers that he would keep them informed of future developments.
His departure signifies the end of an era at Spice FM, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in broadcasting and a loyal audience that has come to value his unique style and commitment to meaningful dialogue.
