Police in the United Kingdom are investigating the tragic death of a Kenyan-born Marianne Kilonzo who was beaten to death in her Woolwich apartment, located in South East London.

The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that 43-year-old Kilonzi’s body was discovered in her Argyll Road residence (SE18) around 5:25 PM on January 17, after concerns were raised about her welfare.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Kilonzi, a Computer Science graduate from Kenyatta University, had an impressive 18-year career at Citibank, where she served as Vice President of Trade and Working Capital Sales.

She had previously held the position of Vice President, Treasury and Trade Solutions at Citibank Kenya for nearly two years, after almost 16 years as an Assistant Vice President.

“This is a tragic crime, and our thoughts are with Marianne’s loved ones and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. We are in close contact with her family, who are being supported by our specialist team,” said Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren from Specialist Crime South.

Detectives have confirmed that blunt-force trauma and a head injury were the cause of Kilonzi’s death.

They believe the attack was carried out by someone Kilonzi knew and are currently working to identify a named suspect.
