DCI wants CS Muturi (L) to record a statement.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has requested that Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi provide a statement regarding the abduction of his son, Leslie Muturi, which occurred in June of the previous year.

The request comes just hours after Muturi publicly condemned the growing frequency of abductions in the country and criticized security agencies for their lack of accountability.

“It is deeply troubling that Kenyans are being abducted, yet there seems to be no action from the police, who continue to deny any involvement,” Muturi stated.

“As a member of the Cabinet, this happened to my own child. I’ve not received any answers regarding why my son was abducted, held incommunicado, and subjected to this ordeal. We all deserve to know who is behind the abductions of our young people.”

In response, the DCI acknowledged that only Leslie had provided a statement thus far and urged his father, along with anyone else possessing relevant information, to cooperate with investigators.

“The case of alleged abduction involving CS Justin Muturi’s son is currently under investigation at DCI Kilimani. As of now, only the son has voluntarily recorded a statement. We invite CS Muturi and anyone else with pertinent information to come forward and provide statements to DCI Kilimani,” the DCI said in a statement.

The agency also revealed that multiple inquiry files related to abduction cases are in advanced stages of investigation and will soon be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for further action.

“The DCI has opened several inquiry files, which are at various stages of investigation. These cases will be forwarded to the ODPP once the investigations are concluded,” the DCI added.
