Jonathan Bii Chelilim the Governor for Uasin Gishu county has pledged to help former socialite and actress Vanessa Cheruto overcome drug abuse to rebuild her life.
Vanessa, 29 popularly known as Vanessa Chettle who gained fame from her appearance on Nairobi Diaries show is wallowing in sea of drugs in Eldoret.
About eight years ago, she was in the same league as today’s socialites like Vera Sidika, Huddah and Corazon Kwamboka.
She was popular in showbiz, earning Sh30, 000 per episode. She hanged out with top musicians and wealthy men.
Vibrant party lifestyle however destroyed her career, life, forcing her to retreat to Eldoret where she started abusing drugs.
In a youtube that has triggered rescue efforts, Vanessa revealed she entangled herself with an older man in his 60’s.
The tragic loss of her premature baby after a motorcycle accident in 2022 pushed the mother of three deep into drugs abyss.
She moved back home in late 2016, jobless, broke and pregnant for a married man. She has also been homeless for six months and rehabilitation.
From the youtube interview, Obinna while hosting Governor Bii on his Youtube tv show requested him to support efforts to rescue her.
Bii agreed and after a meeting Vanessa he promised to help.
“We will support her as she overcomes the challenges associated with substance abuse and to help her transform her life for the better through the Chelilim Foundation” Bii alias Koti Moja pledged.
He said the family foundation in collaboration with Obinna will arrange counselling, rehabilitation, accommodation for Vanessa as they find her some hustle to get her back on feet.
