Renowned business journalist Terryanne Chebet has stepped down from her role at CNBC Africa, where she served in various capacities, including strategic partnerships consultant, senior correspondent, and business development lead, since January last year.

Chebet shared her decision to leave the international media outlet, calling her time there an invaluable experience.

She revealed that her resignation was prompted by her desire to launch her own business show.

Now focusing on a new chapter in her career, Chebet is set to debut After Hours with Terryanne, a digital news project that aims to transform how business news is produced and consumed across Africa.

With her wealth of experience in business journalism, Chebet believes digital platforms are key to reshaping the news industry.

“I’m embarking on an exciting journey to launch my digital news project, After Hours with Terryanne Chebet, which I believe will revolutionize business news in Africa,” she said.

“We have a responsibility to bring the news to people on their digital devices, at their own time. This space is where business news can truly thrive and connect with a larger, more engaged audience.”

In a video on her social media platforms, Chebet introduced the initiative, which she described as Kenya’s first online business show.

The program will premiere on X (formerly Twitter) and feature weekly live discussions on X Spaces. “It’s the culmination of many special things,” Chebet expressed, excited about her groundbreaking new project.

Terryanne Chebet started off her TV career at KBC and has worked for Citizen TV, CNBC Africa TV, CCTV (now CTGN), Citizen TV (twice), Fanaka TV and, Metropol TV.

In between she has held different positions in a number of organizations.
