Suspected cops intimidating Mediamax journalist shot during Nakuru protests

Mediamax Limited journalist shot by police on July 16 in Nakuru city during the anti-government protests now fears for her life.

Catherine Wanjeri is yet to recover fully from the rubber bullet injuries but some people suspected to be police officers are following her and other times calling using different phone numbers.

A video showed the officer alongside others in a speeding vehicle shooting at journalists covering the protests.

Wanjeri was shot in her leg.

After she was discharged from hospital in Nakuru, she is recuperating at her home in Kiambu.

People she does not know have been calling her claiming they have credible information on the officer who shot her.

This comes after the Independent Policing Oversight Authority started investigating the case.

Wanjeri in pains after she was shot by cops.

“I started receiving the calls since August 14, about a month after I was shot. The constant pestering from the man who identifies himself as a police officer has made me afraid of answering calls from new numbers.,” she said.

She suspects the callers want to intimidate her to drop the matter.

The caller she said dared her not to share the contact with police or any other person.

“He said they can only share the details with me if we met in person,” Wanjeri revealed.

She has reported the threats at Nakuru Police Station.
