State House has removed all dismissed Cabinet Secretaries from its official website.
Following a thorough search of the government website two hours after their dismissal, all names of the respective Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General were no longer available.
Only the names of President William Ruto, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau remain on the website.
This follows President Ruto’s bold move on Thursday to dissolve the Cabinet in its entirety.
“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General of the Cabinet of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs. The Office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way,” he said.
This is the second major cabinet change since Ruto took office in September 2022.
Ruto stated that he will engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations.
Nonetheless, Ruto assured that government operations will continue uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries.
“I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, both in the public and private sectors, with the aim of setting up a broad-based government. This will help accelerate and expedite the necessary, urgent, and irreversible implementation of our programme, including other radical measures to deal with the burden of debt, explore ways to raise resources, expand job opportunities, eliminate wastage, and slay the dragon of corruption,” he said.
The President emphasized his commitment to making the government lean, inexpensive, and efficient.
