Shabana FC stretched their unbeaten run with a convincing 2-0 win over Nairobi City Stars at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday evening.
Keith Imbali broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, before Darius Msagha sealed the victory with a second goal in the 72nd minute.
The result lifts the Glamour Boys to fourth place on the log with 46 points—six behind league leaders Kenya Police, with both sides having played 28 matches.
Head coach Peter Okidi expressed his relief at finally ending their winless run in Machakos.
“We’ve played well here in the past, but results just never came our way. Often, we’d take the lead only to concede later. Today, we were determined to break that streak, and I’m proud we did,” said Okidi, formerly of Nakuru All Stars.
Okidi also shared insights into their tactical approach, revealing they allowed City Stars to expend early energy before taking control.
“We expected them to press hard in the first 10 to 20 minutes, so our focus was on staying solid and not conceding early. It was a tough game, and we started slowly, but credit to the boys—they executed the plan well,” he added.
Shabana now shift focus to a high-stakes clash against defending champions Gor Mahia next Sunday at the Gusii Stadium.
Their last league defeat came on February 9, when they fell 2-1 to Posta Rangers at the same Kenyatta Stadium.
