President William Ruto in a veiled attack told his deputy Rigathi Gachagua this is time to work foe Kenyans.
Without mentioning names, Ruto said it was unfair to engage Kenyans in campaigns three years ahead of the next polls.
Gachagua has been in supremacy tussle with Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
The two are jostling on whom should be the Mt Kenya region kingpin. Already leaders from the East of the region which comprises Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties have propped Kindiki as their link with the executive.
While endorsing Kindiki, over 50 elected leaders, elders and youths from Mt Kenya East said they want to walk alone without the west which comprises of Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyandarua counties.

Gachagua without solid support from the West has resulted to attacking and apparently campaigns as he traverses the region.
Ruto spoke during the launch of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) Central-Western Arch-Diocese at Ngangarithi Primary School grounds in Nyeri County, Gachagua’s backyard.

“Let us focus on delivering the commitments we made to the people of Kenya and not on how to win the next election,” he said.
He called on leaders to set aside their political differences and work together to advance the country’s development agenda.
“Let us use this opportunity to build our nation, plan for development projects such as roads, water, education, health, jobs, housing and markets,” he said.
Gachagua steered clear the event and attended church in the neighbouring Kirinyaga county where as reading from Ruto’s script pleaded with leaders to stop “high-octane politics”.
“Let us reduce high-octane politics in the Mt Kenya Region. The other regions are calm and not focusing on politics.” Gachagua said.
