President William Ruto has dismissed Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, just hours after he publicly criticised the CS as an incompetent Attorney General during his tenure.
Ruto has nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, also from Embu County, to replace Muturi.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei.
Muturi has been a growing source of friction for President Ruto in recent months.
His tension with the administration stemmed from his outspoken comments regarding police abductions and the killing of Gen Z protesters in June and December 2024, incidents in which his son was also a victim.
Muturi even requested to be excused from Cabinet meetings until discussions on police abductions and extrajudicial killings were included in the agenda.
In a recent statement, Muturi defended his criticism of the government, claiming that it was part of his duty as a public servant and that he should be praised for speaking out.

After weeks of silence, Ruto finally addressed the issue, labeling his former CS as “fairly incompetent.”
Speaking at an Iftar dinner at State House in Nairobi, Ruto criticized Muturi for his mishandling of the establishment of the Muslim Endowment Fund (Waqf) during his time as AG, which, according to the President, prevented the commission from properly managing Islamic endowments.
