James Kimoi, the son of former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, tied the knot with his longtime partner, Ivy Chebet Meli, in a breathtaking ceremony held at Ol Tukai Lodge in Amboseli National Park on Saturday.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the high-profile wedding attracted an array of notable guests, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The exclusive guest list featured prominent figures from Kenya’s political and social elite.

However, President William Ruto was conspicuously absent, despite having attended similar weddings involving political figures in recent months.
Though Ruto and Gideon Moi were once political allies turned rivals, their relationship has shown signs of thawing in recent times.
Some observers speculate that the presence of Uhuru and Kalonzo may have influenced the guest list, possibly prompting Gideon not to invite the Head of State.

The couple, who held their traditional marriage ceremony in September 2023, officially sealed their union in what many described as a fairytale celebration.
A proud Gideon Moi shared his joy on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“My wife Zahra and I are proud as parents watching our son, James Kimoi, exchange vows with the love of his life, Ivy Meli, making a life-long commitment to be a loving, supportive, and intentional husband.”

He added a warm welcome for his new daughter-in-law:
“As a family, we welcome Ivy into our fold. We cherish and adore her as our daughter. May God bless their union and grant them the grace to walk this journey of love together.”
The event featured a stylish reception with music, dance, and heartfelt speeches, capping off a day of joy and elegance for the newlyweds and their guests.
