Caution at a workshop in Ruiru town to warn buyers.

Many Unsuspecting furniture buyers have fallen victims of crafty brokers who fleece them.

It is for this reason a furniture dealer in Ruiru town, Kiambu county decided to fight brokers head on with unforgiving tactic.

Maendeleo Workshop along the Ruiru-Kamiti road devised way to push the brokers away and at the same time alert customers about these dishonest dealers.

A conspicuous poster hanging on items on display warns buyers that brokers are like conmen.

Maureen Koki who works at the workshop revealed that they came up with the tactic after their potential customers were duped and ended up with substandard items.

“Brokers hanged around and once customers left our premises they pursued them, offering to sell them the same item at a lower price. Even some who we reached an agreement with would later be deceived to buy low-grade items,” she said.

Adding; “We realised we were not only losing customers but reputation because some customers duped thought the brokers were part of us. We decided to display a screaming poster”.

Since they started placing the placard there over three years ago, brokers have left the place.

“The poster has not only scared the shady dealers but attracted more customers to our workshop. They trust us,” Koki revealed.

Another dealer in the town disclosed that many brokers are dishonest and have tainted names of reputable sellers.
