NGOs oppose purported Ruto-Raila handshake

Representatives from 28 Non Governmental Organizations led by the Communist Party, are against President William Ruto’s perceived Handshake with Azimio leader Raila Odinga, stating that the critical issues affecting Kenyans cannot be solved through political formations and engagements.

Addressing the Media on the current state of affairs, the organizations unanimously agreed to participate in upcoming Anti – Government protests, aimed at imploring President William Ruto to fulfil all demands by the Kenyan Youth.

Booker Amole, Secretary General at Communist Party said that they would not accept a broad-based government as envisioned by the president.

“We have seen them putting them putting off their interest, to maintain the status quo. Raila and Ruto are the problem, we will not accept Broad based Government,” Amole noted.

Hapi Olal, a representative at Social Justice Centre also questioned why the government had not cracked the whip on rogue police officers who used brute force on peaceful protestors.

“Hakuna polisi hata mmoja amechukuliwa hatua na tumeona waandamanaji wamepigwa risasi na kwamba wanahabari wanashambuliwa,” he said.
