In a bid to draw more visitors to sample Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage, the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) has unveiled an exclusive after-hours exploration package dubbed “Museums Night Tours”.
NMK has partnered with CityBlue Hotels targeting groups of 10 or more people.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore at night the NMK’s galleries, including the Hall of Kenya, Great Hall of Mammals, Human Origins, Birds of East Africa, and the Contemporary Art Galleries.
The Cradle of Humankind Galleries will also be accessible in an intimate setting.
NMK Director General Nancy Gikungu the initiative aims to enhance Kenya’s cultural tourism offerings by providing an intimate and immersive way for visitors to engage with the museum’s treasures.
She said the night tours will be available through advance bookings for groups of 10 or more, allowing for a personalised experience to up to 10pm.
“This partnership with CityBlue Hotels aligns with NMK’s mission to conserve Kenya’s cultural heritage and biodiversity.
Together, we will create a unique experience for our visitors, and this collaboration will undoubtedly enhance NMK’s story,” Gikungu said.
Edwin Abonyo, Chair of NMK’s board of directors, emphasised the partnership’s aim is to transform the perception of museums as solely educational spaces for students.
