Nabalayo Everline Loice, a 23-year-old nanny involved in a violent robbery at a residence in Nairobi’s Eastleigh Estate in November 2024, has been arrested.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed her arrest, revealing that she was detained in Nairobi’s Kariokor area while attempting to board a bus bound for Uganda.
Loice was identified through CCTV footage that showed her participating in the robbery with a male accomplice at her employer’s home on November 1, 2024.
The robbery led to the brutal assault of a 20-year-old househelp who was present at the time.
The footage reveals that the robbery took place around 4:45 p.m.
The male accomplice was seen approaching the house and forcefully entering after the househelp hesitated to open the door.
Upon gaining entry, the assailant chased the housekeeper, striking her with a hammer when she fell near the kitchen door.
Loice, who witnessed the violent attack, fled the scene with the intruder, stealing gold jewellery, a laptop, a phone, and Sh335,000 in cash.
According to reports filed at Pangani Police Station, the assaulted victim was left unconscious in the bathroom. She sustained severe injuries, including a broken tooth, wounds to her hands, head, and legs, and signs of being whipped.
At the time of the robbery, the tenant was away with his children, and his wife was in India for medical treatment.
The victim was later found and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Loice’s arrest marks an important step in the investigation, as authorities work to bring justice to the victim and hold those responsible accountable.
