Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has disclosed that she lost a hefty Sh1 million after betting on the UEFA Europa League final held on Wednesday night.
Despite ongoing efforts by the government to curb rampant betting among Kenyans—particularly the youth, whose lives have been adversely affected—Omanga went all in on Manchester United.
Unfortunately for her, the team lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.
In a Facebook post just before kickoff, Omanga expressed her excitement and loyalty to her team, revealing her massive wager:
“Bet nimeeka leo KSh 1,000,000 na mabossy wangu hapa watatu. Kama kawa Manchester United kichwa na hao wote ni wa Tote. So after 2 hrs lazima nichezee mita nne clean… nimekazaa tu wallahi! Come on,” she wrote.
Following the defeat, she returned to social media to concede the loss:
“Mita yangu moja imeenda tu hivo, nimetii! Good night wakurugenzi.”
