Detectives have arrested three 17-year-olds in Imenti North, Meru County who attempted a get-rich-quick trick by faking a kidnapping to extort millions from one of the families.
The three; two males and a female, staged an abduction and then contacted the lady’s parents demanding a Sh6 million ransom failure to which they threatened to make her disappear for good.
The girl’s parents reported the matter to police on September 24 and an investigation commenced.
Police officers from Meru station joined hands with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Imenti North to pursue the purported kidnappers.
They tracked down the three to hideout in Kainginyo, Thimbiri location where they also discovered 20 rolls of Marijuana.
To their shock, the plot involved underage and the alleged victim was an accomplice.
They have been locked at Igoji Police Station, waiting to be charged in court with conspiracy to defraud and possession of narcotics.
