Roseline Odhiambo Odede, the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), has passed away after a brief illness.

In a statement released by KNCHR Vice Chairperson Dr. Raymond Nyeris, the commission expressed its profound sadness, describing Odede’s death as a significant loss to both the organization and the nation.

“It is with shock and deep sorrow that I inform you of the passing of Roseline Odhiambo Odede, HSC, Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, which occurred yesterday, Friday 3rd January, 2025, after a short illness,” the statement read.

The commission extended its heartfelt condolences to Odede’s family and friends, recognizing the immense void her passing has left.

“As a Commission, we had the honor of serving with Roseline Odede as the Chairperson, leading the KNCHR. Her untimely death is a tremendous loss for both the Commission and the nation,” Dr. Nyeris added.

“In this time of mourning, we send our deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and all those who knew Roseline. May the memories of her remarkable service bring comfort and strength during this difficult period,” the statement concluded.
