The board of directors of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has announced the appointment of Ahmed Farah as the new CEO, succeeding Patrick Nyangweso.
Farah previously served as the country director for TradeMark Africa in Kenya and is recognized for his expertise in fostering strategic public-private partnerships that have significantly enhanced international investments aimed at modernizing Kenya’s infrastructure and trade systems.
“His vision aligns closely with KNCCI’s mission to bolster Kenya’s competitive standing in the global market,” stated KNCCI President Erick Rutto.
Dr. Rutto highlighted Farah’s leadership in initiatives under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), particularly those focused on empowering women and youth entrepreneurs.
Farah’s influence extends to his role on Kenya’s National Investment Council, where he was appointed by President William Ruto to help shape investment strategies and policies designed to attract global investors and promote sustainable growth.
He holds a master’s degree in international development from the University of Manchester, U.K., and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Kenyatta University. Additionally, he has contributed to a presidential think tank aimed at rebuilding Kenya’s economy in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
