Radio Africa Group (RAG) board has announced its Chief Operating Officer Martin Khafafa as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Khafafa replaces Patrick Quarcoo who founded the company in 2000 and was serving as the CEO.

Quarcoo retired last month after 24 years at the helm of RAG, running Kiss FM, Radio Jambo, Classic 105, Smooth 105.5, The Star Newspaper, Mpasho, Gukena FM, and East FM and shares in Homeboyz Radio.

The company Board of trustees Chair Kiprono Kittony announced the new boss on Wednesday during the outgoing CEO’s farewell party.

He grew RAG from a single-frequency radio station to a thriving group of six influential stations with over 40 transmitters across Kenya, with an expansion into Nigeria, a newspaper and a significant digital presence

Khafafa joined RAG in 2000 as Head of Research, then Research Traffic and Administration Manager before he was promoted to head Agency Sales.

In 2009 he was made General Manager Classic 105 and five years later Group General Manager.

From March 2022 he was the Group COO.
