Keroche Breweries Limited, the second largest alcoholic beverages producer in Kenya is accused of withholding salaries of former employees who left years ago.
The company was founded 47 years ago by Joseph Karanja and his wife Tabitha Mukami Karanja, current Nakuru Senator, and though it is a reputable company in the public view, those inside are suffering.
The couple is praised as entrepreneurs per excellence and Tabitha is hyped by media as the brain behind the success, behind the curtains, it is not rosy.
Bigstar News has established that many employees who left and were promised payment of the arrears have realised they were duped.
For instance, John Muriuki Ndegwa worked at Keroche breweries from September 2014 to March 2021 has been trying to claim his unpaid salary for over three years without success.

When he lost job during the Covid-19 crisis, the Naivasha-based company committed to pay pending salaries, one-month notice, outstanding leave days and severance pay of six years calculated based on each completed years of service at the rate of 15 days per year.
This amounted to Sh90, 977 and they committed to wire the money in instalments of Sh15, 163 for six months.
His last instalment was supposed to be settled before November 2021 but years later not a single penny has been sent to him.
“Just Sh90K and they are refusing to pay. After all that commitment and sacrifice for the company now they want to con me” Ndegwa lamented.
Since Tabitha became a Senator, it has been an uphill task for the former employees to get justice.

She has been able to frustrate bodies pursuing those cases and mainstream media houses have been ignoring cries of these ex-employees.
Here we will continue blowing the whistle until Keroche management pays Ndegwa and others in similar situation.
