Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has suspended head coach Patrick ‘Luwowo’ Odhiambo and his assistant Jeffer Odongo in a bid to turn around the team’s recent struggles.
In an official statement, club chairman Bramwel Simiyu said the move followed extensive discussions and was aimed at injecting new energy into the squad ahead of the season’s conclusion.
“We’ve had mutual discussions with the coach and his assistants. We believe a fresh approach is necessary to help the team finish strongly and prepare adequately for the upcoming season,” Simiyu explained.
Fitness trainer Eric Muranda has also been relieved of his duties, while goalkeeping coach Samuel Koko will assume interim managerial responsibilities.
Odhiambo’s dismissal comes after a dismal seven-match winless streak, which includes five losses and two draws. KCB’s last victory was on March 15, when they defeated Ulinzi Stars 2-1.
This marks a sharp decline for a team that began the season with seven consecutive wins, briefly topping the table and fueling hopes of a title charge.
Despite the disappointing end to the campaign, Simiyu reiterated the club’s commitment to long-term success.

“KCB Football Club is a key pillar of our brand’s sports strategy. We must reassess our current position as we build a stronger foundation for the future. Our ambition is not just to win the league, but to do so consistently,” he stated.
Currently ninth in the standings with 41 points, KCB will conclude their season with matches against Nairobi City Stars on June 10 and AFC Leopards on June 15.
The coaching shake-up at KCB comes just days after Gor Mahia parted ways with their head coach Sinisa Mihic, who lasted only three months at the helm.
