The Democratic for the Citizens Party (DCP), led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, will hold its official launch on Tuesday, June 3, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
This comes after the party’s initial unveiling on May 15 in Lavington.
According to the party’s Secretary General, Hesbon Obaga, the event is expected to draw approximately 5,000 attendees, including party members, supporters, invited guests, and members of the press.
Obaga revealed in a statement issued Thursday night that the party has secured the venue and related services at a cost of Sh3.7 million.
“The launch will feature speeches, performances, and interactive sessions aimed at unveiling our vision, manifesto, and leadership,” said Obaga.
During the party’s unveiling, Gachagua shared that he had spent the past six months at home engaging in consultations to shape the direction of the new political outfit.
He emphasized the party’s commitment to inclusivity, noting that representatives from diverse groups across the country, including Gen Z, have been brought on board.
The DCP’s symbol—a hand holding an ear—represents its dedication to listening to the public. The official party colors are green, red, white, and black.
Key interim leadership positions were also announced:
Cleophas Malala as interim Deputy Party Leader, David Mingati as the Party Chairperson, Mithika Linturi (National Organizing Secretary), Cate Waruguru (National Women’s Leader), Peter Mwathi (Deputy Party Chair, Strategy) and Obaga (Secretary General).
