Tensions are rising over police inaction following the violent attack at ACK Giitima Church, as Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka criticized the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for failing to provide a promised report on the incident.
Kalonzo said the IGP and his team deliberately ignored formal notifications to appear before the Wiper Party, highlighting what he called a growing culture of impunity within the police service.
The Wiper leader pointed to recent incidents, including the teargassing of Senator Edwin Sifuna and his team during a peaceful rally in Kitengela, where two people died and others were injured.
“The police service exists to serve the people of Kenya, not to intimidate them,” Kalonzo said. “The law must apply equally to all, and service must be our earnest endeavour; service to the Constitution, service to the people, not service to Rutoship.”
He warned that the party will return on February 20, 2026, or sooner if necessary, to demand accountability, urging citizens to unite in defending democracy and ensuring the Constitution is upheld.
Analysts say the escalating political pressure signals growing scrutiny on the police’s role in protecting constitutional rights amid rising civil unrest.
