Kenya’s partnership with the Government of Japan is creating new opportunities for economic growth and community development, particularly along the Coast.
Principal Secretary for the National Treasury, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, highlighted key projects transforming the region, including the Mombasa Port Area Road Development Project (Dongo Kundu Bypass), which has eased traffic and boosted the efficiency of port operations, and the Mombasa Special Economic Zone infrastructure projects, which are expected to generate jobs, attract investment, and strengthen export competitiveness.
“These projects demonstrate the strong collaboration between Kenya and Japan, and the positive impact they are having on our economy and communities,” Dr. Kiptoo said.
In addition, the Olkaria Geothermal Rehabilitation Project is enhancing clean energy generation, while the Mwea Irrigation Development Project is set to improve agricultural productivity and food security once completed, benefiting farmers and local communities across the country.
Dr. Kiptoo also received a courtesy call from Madam Miyazaki Katsura, Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), reaffirming Kenya’s longstanding partnership with Japan and the shared commitment to sustainable development projects.
