The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has handed a three-month suspension to Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi following allegations of involvement in match-fixing.
Matasi, who also plays for Kakamega Homeboyz, has drawn significant attention after a video surfaced online showing him with unidentified individuals allegedly linked to match-fixing activities.
In the video, he reportedly promises to manipulate a match in collaboration with the suspected fixers.
FKF announced that an investigation had been launched into the allegations, and just hours later confirmed that Matasi would be suspended for 90 days while the inquiry continues.
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has provisionally suspended goalkeeper Patrick Matasi from all FKF-sanctioned events and competitions for 90 days, following concerns raised by circulating videos suggesting possible match manipulation,” said FKF in a statement.
The decision, made in line with Section VII (2) of the FKF Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations (2016), has been formally communicated to both Kakamega Homeboyz FC and Matasi.

“FKF, in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and other relevant authorities, has initiated an official investigation into the matter. The Federation remains committed to upholding the integrity of football and ensuring a fair and transparent process for all parties involved. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” FKF added.
Matasi has previously played for several Kenyan Premier League clubs, including Kenya Police FC, Tusker FC, and AFC Leopards.
He has been a key member of the Harambee Stars for many years, representing Kenya at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and playing an important role in Kenya’s 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup victory.
