Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has alleged that he was attacked by armed individuals who identified themselves as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to the MP, the incident occurred when his convoy, en route to Nanyuki, was intercepted by the group.
“They ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team by confiscating their firearms, and began pursuing my vehicle,” he recounted.
Salasya further revealed that one of his security personnel managed to escape and helped him flee to safety by hiding in a nearby thicket.
“They shot at my vehicle, clearly aiming at me,” he claimed.

He stated that the attackers were heavily armed, estimating that they carried at least 15 AK-47 rifles. Salasya also claimed he was issued a verbal warning during the ordeal but declined to disclose its contents.
“All I will say is this: I have avoided criticizing the government in my rallies and have consistently promoted peace and development. I am currently being taken to an unknown location, and I urge all relevant authorities and the public to take note of what is happening.”
