Gor Mahia have parted ways with head coach Sinisa Mihic after a brief and tumultuous three-month stint at the club.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the club announced the departure was by mutual agreement:
“We have parted ways with head coach Sinisa Mihic on mutual agreement; the two assistants to take charge on interim basis. We wish Mihic all the best in his endeavours.”
Mihic, 48, took over in February from interim boss Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno. The Croatian tactician, previously assistant manager at Al Samiyah SC in Kuwait, oversaw 14 league matches during his time at the helm — winning eight, drawing five, and losing just twice. He also guided the club to the semi-finals of the FKF Cup following a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Kariobangi Sharks.
However, Mihic’s tenure was marred by off-field conflicts, most notably with his assistants Zico and Michael Nam. At one point, he barred the pair from training sessions, prompting club chairman Ambrose Rachier to intervene and restore order.
Tensions peaked during a 1-1 draw with Sofapaka on April 19, when Mihic — serving a one-match touchline ban — reportedly walked out of the stadium in protest over substitutions made by his deputies.
His final game in charge came on Sunday, a 1-1 draw away to Murang’a Seal, which further intensified scrutiny over his leadership.
Gor Mahia currently sit third on the league table with 54 points and a game in hand. League leaders Kenya Police, on 61 points, are just one win away from securing their first-ever league title — a result that would end Gor Mahia’s two-year reign as champions.
