Three suspects in their early 20s have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of 78-year-old Catherine Waceke Kimotho, who was killed at her home in Kasarani on Sunday.
Victor Ambeyi, 21, the primary suspect and Waceke’s employee, was captured after a manhunt led detectives to his hideout in the Valley area of Kinoo, Kiambu County.
Acting on intelligence, officers from the Nairobi DCI regional headquarters, along with local authorities, traced Ambeyi to a residence where he had been hiding with his 20-year-old cousin, Collins Seda Wanjau.
Further investigation led detectives to a phone repair shop in Githurai 44, where they recovered Waceke’s mobile phone. The shop owner, 22-year-old Benjamin Kimani Mwaura, was also arrested.
The three suspects are currently being held at Kasarani Police Station as detectives continue to probe the motive behind the murder. They are expected to be arraigned in court today.
