Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the reported abductions allegedly linked to the government.
Speaking at the Guardian Angels Tetu Catholic Church church in Nyeri Town, Gachagua called on his allies, including Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia, to hire experienced lawyers to formally request an ICC probe into the ongoing abductions and the purported resurgence of the Mungiki sect.
He expressed sympathy for the families of those abducted, many of whom have found their loved ones’ bodies discarded in various locations after being killed.
Gachagua also criticised the government for dismissing these crimes, asserting that it was implausible for young men to abduct themselves and then kill each other.

The former deputy president claimed that the notorious criminal gang, once a significant threat to the mountain region, has been revived by government forces to stir unrest and chaos.
He recalled the 2009 incident when the gang invaded a village in Nyeri, killing 29 people, raping women, and committing other atrocities.
Gachagua warned that the gang is regrouping, already extorting local residents with alarming brutality.
