Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has condemned what he describes as a plot to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office, alleging the government is targeting her for opposing impunity.

Speaking during a church service at PCEA Imenti North Presbytery in Meru, Gachagua urged the government to halt any efforts to oust the Chief Justice, calling it part of a broader strategy to silence dissenting voices.

Gachagua claimed there is a systematic plan in place to first remove him from office, then go after Koome, and ultimately dismantle the Judiciary in preparation for rigging the 2027 general elections.

“We’ve seen efforts to push CJ Martha Koome out, and attempts are being made to frustrate her into resignation,” Gachagua said. “I want to tell my sister Martha Koome: Don’t be intimidated, stay strong. You’ve done a commendable job, and continue serving the Judiciary and the people of Kenya to uphold the rule of law and constitutionalism.”

He also called on the international community to closely monitor developments in Kenya, warning that the State has already captured the legislature and executive and is now moving to take control of the Judiciary.
