After Peninah Malonza lost the Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Cabinet Secretary job in July, she has embarked on grassroots politics.
The first deputy governor of Kitui county now wants to steer Kamba politics.
She has sworn to upstage Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, currently the Kamba kingpin.
Malonza is making stab at what Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua attempted when he was Machakos Governor.
Her move comes few days after Kalonzo declared himself the opposition leader following his Azimio coalition co-Principal Raila Odinga’s shift to government’s side.
A handshake between Raila and his political rival president William Ruto made Martha Karua quit Azimio leaving Kalonzo trying to bandage the disintegrating coalition.
“Yes, I am ready to be the leader of the official opposition. This is the team. You will see the Opposition like never before. We may be light in numbers in Parliament but outside we have the people of Kenya,” Kalonzo said last week.

Speaking at her home in Kawelu, Kitui South, Malonza said her community has been in the opposition for long.
She accused Kalonzo of not helping Kambas when he was in late Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki governments.
She said she will embark on a journey of liberating the community from opposition slavery.
She vowed to take Kambas from Wiper party to Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance ahead of 2027 elections so to re-elect the incumbent president.
Malonza asked the community to re-evaluate their allegiance to Kalonzo.
“I will engage with various government and private offices to seek opportunities that will uplift our people” she pledged.
