Defending champion Hellen Obiri is confident of clinching a third consecutive title at this month’s Boston Marathon, as she returns to the U.S. following an intense training stint in Ngong, Kenya.

Obiri, who jetted back to the United States earlier this week, says she’s feeling strong and well-prepared ahead of the prestigious race.

Speaking to Telecomasia.net after her arrival, the two-time champion emphasized her readiness and determination.

“It has been a really tough but fruitful journey preparing for Boston back at home, and now I feel fully ready for the task ahead. I’ve done a lot of work on endurance and speed, and with just a few days to go, my focus is now on getting mentally ready to do well,” she said.

She added, “I know it will be tough because the field is very competitive and everyone wants to win, but my focus is on getting the third in a row. I’m confident and I believe in the work I’ve put in.”

Obiri, a long-time force on the track before transitioning to the marathon, has found remarkable success on the road.

She claimed back-to-back wins in Boston in 2023 and 2024 and now stands on the brink of history — aiming to become the first Kenyan woman to win the Boston Marathon three times in a row.
