Car & General unveiled its Piaggio Ape electric three-wheeled vehicles in Mombasa as it expands into ‘green’ mobility venture.
The Ape E-City FX Max designed for passengers come with low maintenance costs, advanced technology and a long range at 120 kilometers on a full charge.
The company Managing Director David Chesoni said these specs aligns with Piaggio’s philosophy of providing path-breaking last-mile transport solutions.
“We feel the new range is an entrepreneur’s best bet to reap maximum benefits,” he said.
The tuk tuks are set to provide efficient transport to residents and help owners save on costs associated with running internal combustion engines.
Mombasa County currently has 15,000 tuk tuks running on petrol.
Mombasa governor Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir hailed the vehicles saying the E-mobility and green energy solutions uptake will cut down emissions thus alleviating challenges of climate change.
Prices of the E V-tuk tuks ranges Sh1.09 million to Sh1.29 million.
Car & General is the appointed sole distributor of Piaggio three wheelers in Kenya since 2002.
