Absa Bank Kenya PLC has committed Sh65 million to support the 2026 Magical Kenya Open Golf Tournament, extending its role as presenting partner and largest private sector sponsor for the 15th consecutive year. The 57th edition of the tournament will be held from February 19, 2026, to February 22, 2026, at  Karen Country Club, bringing together elite golfers from around the world and reinforcing Kenya’s position on the international golfing calendar. The bank said Sh40 million of the sponsorship will be channelled directly to the Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) to facilitate tournament organisation, while Sh25 million will fund marketing and stakeholder engagement activities. According to the bank, the investment is tied to its broader focus on sports development, tourism promotion and strengthening Kenya’s visibility as a global sporting destination. Activewear Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamed described the sponsorship as part of the lender’s long-term philosophy of supporting excellence through sport. He linked the tournament to the bank’s brand purpose and its efforts to spotlight Kenyan talent. “At Absa, our purpose is Empowering Africa’s Tomorrow Together…one story a time. As such, we invest in sports as a platform where we see stories of excellence, resilience and possibilities,” Mohamed stated. “Through our sponsorship, we are not just showcasing the game of golf, we are walking the journey with players, communities and the entire sports ecosystem, while spotlighting Brand Kenya to the world.” The Magical Kenya Open is part of the DP World Tour and continues to attract international competitors, global media coverage and large audiences of golf followers. Organisers say the tournament contributes to Kenya’s sports tourism sector by drawing visitors, sponsors and broadcast attention, factors that extend economic activity beyond the course. State Department of Sports Secretary Administration Evans Achoki credited the long-running partnership with helping raise Kenya’s global sporting profile.
