Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has appealed to his Gusii community to support his efforts to build bridges with leaders and communities across Kenya, emphasizing the need for national unity anchored in shared values and inclusive development.
Speaking in Kisii yesterday during a consultative tour of the Gusii region, Matiang’i asked for permission to extend his outreach beyond his home region.
“Kindly allow me to go and seek friendships from all parts of Kenya. Do I have your permission to speak with others?” he asked, receiving enthusiastic support from the crowd.
He continued, “From here, let us head to Rift Valley, then to Central Province, Eastern—Ukambani and Meru—and also to Western Kenya. Allow me to build friendships there so that together we can move forward.”
Matiang’i underlined that his mission to foster national consensus would not be confined to his regional base. Instead, it would be rooted in transparent, inclusive dialogue across political and regional lines.
“Building alliances must be grounded in honest conversations with fellow Kenyans across every political and regional divide. Our next chapter must be defined by unity, inclusion, and partnerships anchored on the real issues affecting our people,” he stated.
Addressing supporters at Gusii Stadium, the former CS emphasized the importance of collective unity in choosing the country’s leadership come 2027.

He reassured the public that Kenya’s current challenges would eventually be resolved through solidarity and divine guidance.
“All these problems we are facing today will come to an end. We must hold on together as one. And when that time comes, we shall cross that bridge together. God will help us fix this situation,” he said.
