The National Assembly has approved the nominations of Geoffrey Ruku and Hanna Wendot Cheptumo as Cabinet Secretaries, paving the way for their swearing-in.
Once sworn in, Ruku will take over the Ministry of Public Service, while Cheptumo will serve as Cabinet Secretary for Gender.
The two appeared before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments on Monday, where they were vetted and questioned on their experience and priorities for their respective ministries.
Among the other nominees was Stephen Isaboke, proposed for the position of ICT Principal Secretary.
However, on Wednesday, the National Assembly’s ICT Committee recommended his reassignment due to a conflict of interest, should he be sworn into the role.
These appointments are part of President William Ruto’s latest cabinet reshuffle, which saw the exit of former Public Service CS Justin Muturi.
Muturi’s removal followed a reported fallout with the President, who demanded accountability over rising cases of abductions, accusing Muturi of neglecting his responsibilities.
