The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has appointed renowned tactician Francis Kimanzi as the new Football Development Director.

Kimanzi, who brings a wealth of experience in Kenyan football, steps into this pivotal role as the federation aims to strengthen its structures, nurture local talent, and promote sustainable growth within the sport.

“We are confident that Kimanzi’s leadership and expertise will be crucial in advancing our development agenda and shaping the future of Kenyan football,” said FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege.

Before his appointment, Kimanzi was serving as the interim head coach of the national team, Harambee Stars.

Under his leadership, Harambee Stars won the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar in January, defeating Tanzania Mainland 2-0, drawing 1-1 with Burkina Faso, and losing to Zanzibar.

This marks Kimanzi’s third term as the national team coach, having previously led the side in 2008-09 and 2011-12. It was during his first tenure that Harambee Stars achieved their highest-ever FIFA world ranking (68th).

Kimanzi is also known for his success at the club level, having led his boyhood club, Mathare United, to a Kenya Premier League title in 2008.

He has also coached Tusker FC, Wazito, Sofapaka, and Tanzanian side Tabora FC.
