The body of Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai, a Kenyan police officer shot and killed during a patrol in Haiti on February 23, has arrived back in Kenya.
Kaetuai was fatally ambushed by suspected gang members while on duty in Haiti.
The body was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport last night by Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli.
The body was latter transferred to Chiromo Mortuary as burial arrangements continue.
Masengeli was joined by Commandant BPU James Kamau, SAIG Director of Medical Services APS Madam Lilian Kanini, CP, and NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, CP.
Also present were Kajiado County Senator Peris Tobiko, along with Kaetuai’s family and friends.
On March 2, Inspector General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, visited the grieving family in Naserian Village, Kajiado East Sub-County, and assured them that both the government and the Police Department would provide full support during this challenging time.

Kenya has deployed over 600 police officers to Haiti as part of the UN-backed Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, with plans to send a total of 1,000 officers.
