A day after Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma called for the abolition of male circumcision, celebrated singer Suzanna Owiyo has shared her thoughts on the highly debated issue.
Kaluma, in a post on his X account, criticized the practice as outdated, saying, “Donkeys don’t circumcise. No animals do, except for a few humans who have been misled into believing they are descendants of Abraham.”
His remarks sparked a heated debate, with strong opinions from both sides.
In response, Owiyo shared a video on her social media, labeling the conversation as a “tired narrative.”
The 49-year-old Afro-fusion artist emphasized, “What people fail to understand is that women are in a better position to explain all this. It’s simple: Our private parts do not care about circumcised or non-circumcised organs.”
She added, “Majority of women wameonja kitu imekatwa na yenye haijakatwa” (have experienced both the circumcised and non-circumcised).
Her post ignited further debate, with some opposing her view while others voiced their support.
