Arsenal are closely monitoring Kai Havertz following a muscle injury sustained during the team’s training camp in Dubai.
The 25-year-old striker is feared to have suffered a hamstring tear, which could see him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Reports from The Athletic suggest that while it is still uncertain whether surgery will be required, it is increasingly likely that Havertz’s season has come to an end.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to provide more details on the injury at a press conference on Friday, ahead of the team’s match against Leicester City on Saturday.
Havertz has been a key player for Arsenal this season, appearing in 34 matches across all competitions, scoring 15 goals, and providing five assists.
The Gunners are already dealing with significant injury concerns, with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka both sidelined with hamstring injuries.
Additionally, Gabriel Jesus is out for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury. If Havertz joins this list, Arteta will be left with limited attacking options, especially after failing to secure attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window.
Arteta had indicated last week that Havertz could be relied upon to start every game going forward, with Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and Ethan Nwaneri as his alternative attacking options.
Arsenal travelled to Dubai for warm-weather training last Thursday, following their Carabao Cup exit to Newcastle in the semi-finals.
The team was also absent from this weekend’s FA Cup fixtures after their third-round loss to Manchester United.
Currently, Arsenal sits second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
