Japan-based Victor Kimosop says his triumph at Friday’s Nairobi Region Cross Country Championships at Nairobi West Prison Grounds has sparked his drive for the upcoming national competition.
Kimosop is focused on securing first place at the National Cross-Country Championships, scheduled for February 8 at Eldoret Sports Club.
“My goal is to win the National Cross-Country Championships. I’ll train hard for it, especially working on aspects of my race like speed,” he said.
Kimosop finished the men’s 10km race with a time of 30:12.2, edging out Meshack Kimutai (30:36.7) in second and Betwel Kipsang (30:40.3) in third.

The victory marked a comeback for Kimosop, who had faced setbacks in previous races, including a disappointing finish at the Sinoin Cross Country.
During Friday’s race, the 21-year-old stayed patient in the middle of the pack before surging ahead in the third lap. He attributed this strategy to helping him manage the heat and claim the top position.
