Ivorian football legend and former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré has obtained the prestigious UEFA Pro Coaching License, the highest coaching qualification in professional football.
This certification now allows him to manage a professional team anywhere in Europe.
Touré shared the exciting news on his social media, stating: “I am thrilled to announce that I have obtained my UEFA Professional License! I have learned so much throughout this training and I am even more excited about what I can achieve as a coach. Thank you to the FA mentors, as well as my friends and family for their support.”
Since retiring from playing in 2019, the 41-year-old has focused on his transition into coaching.
He has gained valuable experience, having worked with Olimpik Donetsk in Ukraine (2020), Akhmat Grozny in Russia (2021), and within the technical staff at Tottenham.
These roles have played a key part in his journey to achieving the UEFA Pro License, which is essential for coaches with international aspirations.
With this achievement, Touré joins a select group of Ivorian coaches holding the UEFA Pro License, including his older brother, Kolo Touré.
Most recently, Yaya joined the technical staff of Roberto Mancini, who is currently managing the Saudi Arabian national team. Additionally, on November 20, he visited the players of Étoile Carouge, a Swiss Ligue 2 team, thanks to his connection with the club’s coach, Adrian Ursea.
