The Standard Group has officially announced the merger of KTN News and KTN Home, which will now operate under a single unified brand, ‘KTN.’
In a statement, the company’s management explained that the rebranding initiative aims to offer a broader and more integrated content experience for its audience.
“Since 1990, KTN has been a cherished part of your lives, growing into a heritage brand loved by millions. From hard-hitting news to captivating entertainment, we’ve been your trusted companion, amplifying voices and shaping important stories,” said Ms. Marion Gathoga-Mwangi, CEO of Standard Group.
“Today, we are excited to announce the merger of KTN Home and KTN News into one unified brand: KTN. This bold move combines the best of both worlds—your favorite family entertainment and trusted, fact-based journalism—all under one roof,” she added.

KTN, founded in 1990, was Kenya’s first privately owned television station, marking a significant shift in the media landscape by providing a platform for diverse voices in a previously state-controlled environment.
Over the years, KTN became known for its innovative programming and for fostering the careers of many prominent journalists in the country.
In 2015, the Standard Group launched KTN News, Kenya’s first 24-hour news channel.
