Manchester United has parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag after a dismal stretch that saw the team secure just one victory in their last eight matches.
The decision was made on Monday afternoon, following Sunday’s 2-1 loss to West Ham.
Club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy will step in as interim manager.
In a statement, the club announced: “Erik ten Hag has left his position as the first-team manager. Appointed in April 2022, he guided the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We thank Erik for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Van Nistelrooy will lead the team temporarily, supported by the existing coaching staff, while the club searches for a permanent head coach.
