Two directors of TRV Towers Limited were arraigned in a Nairobi court yesterday to answer charges related to an alleged theft of Sh112 million.
Tribhovan Anlalji Chavada and his son, Jayesh Tribhovan Chavda, are accused of stealing the funds over several dates from October 18, 2019, to July 31, 2023, when Tribhovan served as managing director.
The charges also include conspiracy to defraud the company, with both men implicated.
Additionally, they face accusations of forging documents to open a bank account at Bank of Baroda, misrepresenting their authenticity.
During the proceedings before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi, both directors pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Lawyer representing the complainant, urged the court to impose strict bail conditions due to the significant amount involved.
He highlighted that both accused hold dual citizenship in the United Kingdom and Kenya, raising concerns about the risk of flight.
He requested that the court require the accused to surrender their passports until the conclusion of the case. He emphasized the first accused’s managerial role within the company and requested restrictions on his ability to interfere in company affairs, as well as a freeze on company accounts to prevent any withdrawal during the trial.

Magistrate Ekhubi declined to issue immediate orders regarding the accounts but advised the complainant to file a formal application to seek account freezing.
The court granted bail to the accused, Sh200,000 for Tribhovan and Sh150,000 for Jayesh, and scheduled further proceedings for November 13, 2024.
