Outgoing Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa eyes the third term but as a running mate of his now deputy Doris Petra in the forthcoming polls.
The Sports Act, 2013 prohibits Mwendwa to defend his seat after serving two terms, opting to go for a role swap should the duo win in the federation elections slated for December 7.
If Petra wins, she will become the first woman to serve at the apex of FKF leadership.
She has been Mwendwa’s vice president since 2016 and now they have teamed up again to secure a third term.
Mwendwa said; “People need to understand that it is not always about being number one. I have no problem serving as the vice president. We are just the same team, and we have worked together for the last eight years.”
Yesterday nine aspirants met the deadline of submitting their papers to the FKF electoral board and announcing their running mates.
