After failing to secure a point in the two matches against Cameroon, the Harambee Stars now remains third in Group J AFCON Qualifiers with four points.

The return leg clash yesterday in Uganda left the Kenya side’s chances of qualifying for the continental tournament more dented after the Indomitable Lions beat them 1-0, resulting in a 5-1 aggregate win.

Cameroon leading with 10 points has qualified for the AFCON games to be held in Morocco next year.

Kenya now must win their remaining two matches against Zimbabwe and one with Namibia and hope Zimbabwe who are second with five points to lose all of their remaining matches.

Only two teams in the group will proceed to the continental arena.

The Stars head coach Engin Firat now has a daunting challenge to eclipse Zimbabwe as Namibia with zero points is no apparent threat.

The former Turkish player said winning the remaining three matches next month is crucial to keep their AFCON hopes alive.

“For our final two matches, we have to go out and win. We have no other option. We cannot take things for granted because this group is tough,” Firat said.
