The 2015 African Games, 3000m steeplechase champion Clement Kemboi is dead, becoming the third athlete to lose life within seven days.
Kemboi’s body was discovered hanging from a tree at a farm belonging St Patrick’s High School in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county.
It is suspected the 32-year-old athlete committed suicide.
His death comes barely 24 hours after former World Under-20 champion Kipyegon Bett passed away at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet after short illness.

Bett was the 2016 World U20 800m champion and in 2017 World Championships he won bronze.
On Friday Samson Kandie, a retired marathoner was killed by unknown people at his home in the upscale Elgon View Estate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu.
Kemboi made his mark on the international stage when he clinched the gold medal at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Brazzaville.

He achieved his personal best time of 8:10.65 in the 3000m steeplechase at the prestigious Doha Diamond League in 2016.
